Thirty spokes converge upon a single hub: it is on the hole in the center that the use of the cart hinges.
Shape clay into a vessel: it is the space within that makes it useful.
Carve fine doors and windows: but the room is useful in its emptiness.
The Usefulness Of What Is Depends On What Is Not.11th Verse Tao Te Ching
How often do you stop and appreciate the emptiness of a room? The silence of a winter's midnight?
My life has a tendency to be somewhat hectic, so finding time to actually enjoy the negative can lead to getting up in the middle of the night so that I can have the solitude every stay at home parent longs for and craves.
I love finding emptiness. Exploring it fully, I realize that from the negative comes Creativity.
To Create you must start from nothing.
Just as you must be silent to hear.
Perhaps if we stopped and listened to the silence, felt the emptiness, we could create fuller lives.
I am not saying feeling the void that is in us is not rather terrifying.
It is.
But by feeling the void, we reconnect with who we are. Who we were.
Reconnecting reminds why we are where we are, why we chose to be where we are.
